OPTIONAL TOURS (Prices TBD)

A Day In Havana -

See Havana from a few different perspectives on a five-hour, fully guided trip around town that includes historic Morro Castle, two notable city plazas, the Nelson Dominguez art gallery, and the Experimental Graphics Workshop. Your day begins at the foot of Morro Castle, a late 16th-century bastion that guards the entrance of the bay. Listen along to tales of pirates, prisoners and epic battles before enjoying a panoramic city drive. Along the way you'll see the 65-foot-tall Carrara marble Christ of Havana statue overlooking the waterfront. Glimpse Plaza de la Revolucion, one of the world's largest city squares where many large-scale political rallies have occurred. The Neoclassical buildings lining Plaza de San Francisco equally amaze. Then enter the studio gallery of Nelson Dominguez, where with cocktail in hand, you'll gaze upon his collection of landscape paintings inspired by Afro-Cuban scenes. Your final stop is the Experimental Graphics Workshop to explore the art of printmaking while interacting with local printmakers and watching the machinery in action. You can even purchase your own souvenir etchings, lithographs, woodcuts and collagraphs to take home. This tour offers a bit of this, a bit of that … and a whole lot of adventure.

Highlights:

• Morro Castle: Walk the exterior of this bayside citadel, hearing about its bloody past dating back to the 1500s.

• Havana: Highlights include the Christ of Havana statue, politically significant Plaza de la Revolucion, and historic Plaza de San Francisco.

• Nelson Dominguez: Take a curator-led tour of this famous artist's gallery before exploring the nearby Experimental Graphics Workshop's printmaking space.

Experience it all with the help of a virtual tablet that brings to life everything you see with audio-visual technology. The perfect companion to your sightseeing, this tablet lets you see what the historic complex looked like centuries ago, as you view the ancient structures that remain today, including never-before-seen images of Kulkulcan, plus the temple’s interior tomb and statues
